weekly wrap up: 09/11/17 & 09/18/17

So you guys get two blog posts all wrapped up in one. I got sick this week past week. I have pretty severe allergies and when the changing of the seasons happen, I get really sick. Hence why there were barely any posts. Being sick takes a lot out of me. It’s awful.

But now I’m on the mend and things should be getting back to normal. I’m currently going through all my books that I own. I hope to make a master list of every book I own. I want to hyperlink each of my reviews to said list. That way, if you guys see something I own and want me to review it (if I haven’t yet), I can do that. Also it’s kind of for me too. So I can keep track of my books that I own.

blog posts

27 hours: possibly one of the best representations of different sexualities and diversity I’ve ever read.

never apart: a wonderfully beautiful book that is nothing like what it seems.

a messy beautiful life: a book that made me cry as much as it made me laugh.

the uncrossed: a mix of old world magic with new world lifestyle.

the book blogger insider tag: where I talk about my pretty horrible blogging habits.

arc approvals

I was approved for a lot of arcs the past week, which I have read and posted reviews. I was also approved for a second book from Netgalley. It’s called I Was Anastasia. It’s about a woman who claims she was Anastasia, the daughter of Tsar Nicholas II. I’m anxious to get started on it!

next week’s outlook

Before I get to the actual outlook, I just wanted to exclaim that I reached 100 followers on my blog! It is most exciting that 100 people care enough about what I write and the books I read. Thank you all of you!

As for next week, I plan on really getting through the books I own. I plan on continuing to work on the master list of books I own. I also will put up a short little post about the 6 books that I got when I went thrift store shopping.

I’m also thinking about changing the way my blog looks and changing the way I do wrap ups and things like that. I’m not sure if I’m going to yet but I’ve been thinking about it.

I hope the rest of you had a good couple of weeks!

weekly wrap up: 9/05/17

Well, it has been a week. I apologize that this post is a day late. Life just kind of caught up to me. I started my dental procedures this month and the anxiety of that took a lot out me  and it really left no energy for blogging and posting. But now things should settle down for a while. I don’t have anything major until the end of the month.

I’m also excited for the release of Destiny 2 today at 11pm CST. I have been waiting for this game for a very long time and I am so ready to start gearing up my Hunter. Because let’s face it, Hunters are the superior class.

Anyway, let’s get on with this post!

blog posts

breaking the rules of revenge: a cute summer camp story of my favorite trope. The hate to love trope.

september releases I’m excited for//part 1: the first part of a list of books that I will most likely end up reading next year.

august wrap up: where I managed a whopping 16 books and found a couple of favorites.

summoner: a really interesting paranormal ARC that was so much more than that.

seize today: the finale of the Forget Tomorrow series and where I cry because there isn’t another book after this one. Although I did find a novella about Logan, so yay!

getting through the massive amount of books i own

Surprise surprise! I actually got through a book I own. It’s one I already read but it was before Goodreads and it’s Jodi Picoult so it doesn’t even count.

I have also started a book about Joan of Arc that I had bought from a Goodwill trip. It’s been pretty good so far. Just full of information and it’s taking a bit to wade through it.

ARC approvals

I was approved for one ARC from Entangled Teen. I still have two more that I need to read as well. This one has a wicked beautiful cover and it’s supposed to be one of those in the feels books. I can’t wait. A book hasn’t physical wrecked me since Far From You.

a messy beautiful life

Remember how I said I wasn’t going to request anymore books from Overdrive? Me either. However, two books came through that I have been dying to read so I will find the time to read those as well.

next week’s outlook

Depending on how fast I finish the books I listed above, there will probably be a lot of reviews coming your way. I also found a tag that I will post as well. September’s releases of new books will (hopefully) come out next week as well.

If you guys would like, I can post a review of Destiny 2 and my thoughts on it. I will be grinding (playing it pretty much all the time, except when I’m not at work) it out for a while. Gaming is a huge part of my life so if it interests you dear readers, I’ll post a review.

I hope you guys week as good! Let me know!

august monthly wrap up

Finally August is ending! Good lord, I thought it would never end. Show of hands, who here thought August was never going to end? Just me? Oh. Well okay then.

This was the month of ARCs for me and I’m happy about it. I have discovered a new genre that I am into: YA paranormal. I know, it’s something I usually never read about it considering that I watch basically nothing but paranormal shows. I actually started a really good show that I might do a post about.

Enough about me. Allow me to present the 16 books (I’m totally slacking) I read this month. As usual, the bolded books are my favorite. I have found one that is number 2 on top 10 greatest books of this month and it’s far from you. Number three is black bird of the gallows.

I hope you all enjoyed that. Or at the very least found some books that you want to check out. Let me know how your month went. Did you find any good books? Or have a lousy month? I’m all ears!

weekly wrap up: 08/27/17

What a week! To be honest, I started this post yesterday in a panic, thinking that today was Monday. I was wrong and instantly relieved. In hindsight, I should have just finished it and added to it when needed but I was lazy.

But on the plus side, I will be able to buy gold Zenyatta balls on Overwatch. I know, it’s not really book related but I have been working towards this for a very very VERY long time. It’s been a lot of sweat and tears.

…I’m being dramatic. Moving on to the wrap up.

blog posts

hogwarts tag: a tag that is all about Hogwarts, my home away from home.

queens of the conquest: the very first ever ARC I got from Netgalley. You know, the one where I almost cried?

*forget tomorrow: an interesting and thought provoking start to a great series.

*remember yesterday: the sequel to the thought provoking and interesting series.

*boomerang boyfriend: a cute contemporary that had some issues.

ARC approvals

I was approved for quite a bit of ARCS this past couple of weeks, all thanks to the awesome people at Entangled Teen. Honestly, those guys rock! The three books, with the asterisk by them, that I listed in my blog posts section are ARCS. In order to not sound redundant, I will list the ARCs that I haven’t read/reviewed in this section so you will know what to look forward too.

breaking the rules of revenge: I reviewed this on Goodreads, which I will link, but the blog post won’t be up until 2pmCST so that’s why it’s going here.

27 hours: I’m not sure what this is about but man, it’s got a pretty cover.

seize today: the third book in the series of Forget Tomorrow. I’m so stoked to finish this.

never apart: another book with a beautiful cover. I’m excited to start this as well.

summoner: a genre I don’t normally read but I’m anxious to start this too.

next week’s outlook

You may have noticed that I took out two sections in this week’s outlook: getting through the massive amount of books I own and overdrive. I took them out simply because I had so many ARCs that I needed to get through. That’s all I read this week. Next week should be better and I can focus quite a bit on my physical books. I’m going to be putting overdrive on hold for a while. I really want to get through the physical books I own.

I will be working on September releases I’m excited for along with another tag to do, in order to keep up my promise of doing a tag every week. I might throw in a discussion post or two as well.

I hope everybody has had a good and a successful week of reading. I know that I sure did. Let me know!

weekly wrap up: 08/21/17

Well, another week has come and gone. I feel like I got quite a bit done considering the stress I had this week. I found out that I need to have wisdom teeth pulled out along with a variety of mouth related procedures. I also laid to rest a cousin and that was incredibly difficult, more so than I thought it was going to be.

Next week will be awesome, I promise. I got approved for about five or so ARCS along with signing up for a bunch more because I clearly have no self control. But I’ll tell you guys all about that in the next week’s outlook section.

blog posts

black bird of the gallows: where I rave about the YA paranormal genre and how I need to get my hands on more of it.

wonder woman book tag: where I compare books to different parts of Wonder Woman lore.

anne of green gables: where I fondly talk about anne and how she wormed her way into my heart.

the face on the milk carton: 3.5 stars

getting through the massive amount of books I own

The only book I ended up getting through was Anne of Green Gables. I bought it at Walmart and it’s the same cover design as my Pride and Prejudice book so of course I had to get it. And read it at once. Because, you know, I have no self control.

ARC approvals

I was approved for my first ever Netgalley ARC. I almost cried, I was so damn happy. I got an uncorrected proof of Queens of the Conquest (England’s Medieval Queens) by Alison Weir. Alison Weir is one of my most favorite historical fiction writers. The book is really good so far and I’m learning a lot. Expect that blog post very soon.

I was also approved for Black Bird of the Gallows by Meg Kassel from Entangled Teen publishing. Seriously, this publishing company rocks and I’m forever grateful of all the ARCs they let me read. I’m finding books I never would have picked up myself and finding new genres to explore. Check out my blog post on that book!

next week’s outlook

As I briefly mentioned up above, I was approved for quite a few ARCs from Entangled Teen publishing. I will mention them in next week’s ARC approvals section. I haven’t started them yet but they are downloaded and eagerly awaiting for me to read them.

I am also going to try and do one tag per week so break up the reviews. I have a few discussion posts on deck, as well, that I’m thinking about posting. I’ll keep browsing for new ideas to bring to the table. Also expect September releases I’m excited for to hit next week as well.

Tell me about your week? Was it good? Get any fun new books? Had a bad week? Let me know!

weekly wrap up: 08/14/17

This week has been a bit of a slow week. I was tackling an 800 page monster of a book about Paris, which I will discuss later. The Summer Games event came out in Overwatch so I have been focusing a lot of my energy on that. And I’ve been having a bit of a writing block. I want to bring some new content to this blog but I’m just not sure what I should post. I have a couple of things saved in my draft but other than that, I’m not really sure.

Enough of me bellyaching, it’s time to actually talk about my week.

blog posts

the tbr book tag: where I talk about my massive TBR pile and all around pretend it’s not overwhelming

we all looked up: where I talk about cliched teenagers that get intensely philosophical about the end of the world.

paris: the 800 page monster of a book spanning over hundreds of years about the city of Paris. I learned quite a bit.

I only got one book from overdrive this week. But have no fear, I am next in line for at least four different books which means they all should be here sometime next week.

we all looked up: 4 stars.

getting through the massive amount of books i own

I finally read a book that I own! Yay! Granted it was only one book but still. It’s really only because overdrive was slow. On another note, I managed to organize my bookshelf at home a little bit. I still have to add one more shelf and then it’ll look like a complete mess.

paris: 3.5 stars

ARC approvals

I got approved for another ARC by Entangled Teen. If you guys haven’t checked them out, you really should. You can sign up for their emails and during the different seasons they send out a list of ARCs and you sign up for all or some. They will email you if you get approved. It’s super easy!

The ARC I was approved for is called Black Bird of the Gallows. I haven’t started it yet but I will just as soon as I finish this post. It’s a YA paranormal book, which normally isn’t something I read but I’m trying to branch out. Plus that cover is swoon worthy! Look for that review and information about publication sometime this week.

next weeks outlook

Next week, I hope to accomplish reading more books I own. I have won a few in a giveaway that I would like to start including Girls Made of Snow and Glass. I’m beyond excited for that one!

Overall, I’m just hoping to get a little bit more reading done then what I did. I’m also going to try and find more bookish related topics to discuss. Maybe I’ll bring in a weekly discussion post. My main goal is continue to try and weed down the books I own. We shall see what next week brings.

How did the week go for you guys? Good? Bad? Average? Feel free to let me know!
